Puppy Training Part 2

Puppy Training, Living From Glory To Glory Blog

I was at a quiet field one day
and there happened to be a dog
show going on at the time.

I stayed to watch and was quite
impressed with the beautiful animals
that were being shown that day.

Part of the program included
a competition to show the
dogs' abilities in obedience to
the commands of the owners.

The pups were adorable as
they came frolicking and tumbling
onto the field.

They were not very mature
and most had a difficult
time responding to their
masters wishes.

Especially adorable were the children
trying to get their own puppies
to sit, roll over, beg and follow.

At one point,
once the pup was actually
sitting and listening,
they were offered
temptations to ignore the
owners command to sit still,
such as a yummy treat placed
away in front of them, or
the judge calling to them
to leave the owners side.

The older dogs were even
enticed to run off by
little poppers going off around
them as they sat at their
masters feet.

It was all quite entertaining,
and the dogs were trying their
best to listen to their owner's
wishes, but all in all, most
of the contestants weren't
having the best of luck
getting their precious pups in line

At one point an older gentleman and his
beautiful older dog came on the field.

He asked the dog to sit and stay.

He then removed the leash from his pet,
and walked across the large field behind
a building and out of sight from his dog.

The dog never took its eyes off that building.

Treats were offered. .
she didn't flinch an eye
to look at them...
just kept her eye on that building.

Small firepoppers went off near her,
you could sense a bit of a
ruffle in her fur, but her eyes
remained focused on the building
where her master had disappeared.

Other tactics were taken to get the
dogs attention and obedience off her
master, but it was to no avail,
she held her ground and kept
her eyes focused on the last
place she had seen her master.

At one point from where
I was positioned I could see her
owner quietly step
from behind the building.

He said nothing but just stood still.

The dog saw him too, every muscle
in her body was alert to his presence,
but she stayed put just as he had told her.

Soon he lifted his hand, and without
saying a word crooked his finger in
a gesture for her to "come!"

Like a bolt of lightning she lit out
across the field as fast as her
feet could carry her to his side.

What a happy reunion!

Her delight at simply being
reunited with her owner was a joy,
and his pride in his dog and her
beautiful obedience was quite evident.

The next day as I was driving on
the freeway, I was pondering what I
had seen between the
owner and the obedient dog .

I wondered at the dogs
happiness with being owned and
obeying a master.

As I drove I saw a dog lying on the side
of the road. It obviously had been
struck by a vehicle and had died
along side the road.

I'm sure that dog had revelled in
his freedom from restraint and
ownership, and I thought about
the joy it sometimes feels to have
no one controlling what you do, especially
when one is young and carefree.

At the same time I realized that
while this dog had full freedom to
run wild and free,
it also had the burden of finding
warmth from the cold and the pressure
of seeking food to fill his empty belly,
plus the loneliness of having no
owner to care if you are well and nurtured.

So, while this dog was lying dead on
the road I thought about the well
trained dog I had seen at the dog show.

While she rested warm and full
in front of her master's fire in his
home, loved and nurtured, but not
free to run wild, this other
dog died alone
running free as the wind.

There's a truth here.

Jesus asks us why do you
call Me Lord, when you don't obey Me ?

He said if anyone loves Him and obeys
Him, He and His Father will come
and live with that person and
they will make their home with that one

Many today call Him Lord,
but no longer believe His words are meant for them to obey.

We as a culture,
now reap the full
harvest of our rebellion
and wild freedom.

Broken homes.
Rampant drugs.
Murder daily.
Gross immorality.
Killing of innocent babies.
Hatred of parents.
Churches filled with false teaching.
Women dominating.
Men following.
Children rebelling.

We are now a nation
under the full wrath of God.

We have left His will.

Now we will have His fill of
reaping what we have so
belligerently sown.

Our full harvest
is now ready to be brought in.

What a deep sorrow

It's a fearful thing
to fall into the Hands
of the Living God.

If you are a Christian,
and if your heart desires
to see good for your own
home and family,
it is time to repent of all
known sin, fall on
your knees and seek mercy
from the Lord.

No more compromise.

Jesus must be Lord of all.

Focus your eyes on your Master.

Seek to obey Him with
all your heart,
all your soul
and all your might.

Pray without ceasing.

We serve a mighty God.

But He is ONLY God and Master
of those He can lead.

If you want to run free,
He will not stop you.

He gave you your terrible freedom.

But you will not be resting at
His fire and being fed by His
Hand as His full wrath comes
upon this evil country of rebellion.

God will not strive with man forever,
and the blood of millions of murdered
babies cry out for His vengeance.

That vengeance is here.

There is no politician or religious leader
who can save you or your family.

There is only One Name by which
we can be saved. ...Jesus Christ.

He will cover your home
only if your heart and mind
are obedient to Him.

The hour is late.

Come out from among them!

Why Baking Keeps You Happy And Cupcakes Are The Perfect Treat And How To Make Chocolate and Coconut, Pecan Frosting...

Living From Glory To Glory Blog

Tiny And Yet Complete...

Now, you all know me well enough by now to know that this post;
"Will not just be about cupcakes"

A lesson learned is a powerful thing...
How do we learn?

By living our days in such a way that we are teachable and not stiff necked!

If you know everything, then just stop reading now;
As I do not want to waste your time (smile)

I have been graced to be in a learning curve my whole life;
I am not ashamed to ask for clarification in any given moment.
I do think one very valuable lesson is that we cannot read each others minds!

What grace and room abounds when we realize this and respond correctly.

That is why being a good student of the word and life is so valuable.

You have all heard this phrase;
How do we eat an elephant?
Well, one bite at a time...

This is how we can become wise as a serpent and gentle as a dove!

Learning comes in teeny tiny bite's

May I ask you this question?
What have you learned recently?

I find as I enjoy other sister's in the Lord, and glean from their wonderful tips and advice,
Then I am able to pick up and assimilate some really great things...
When a sister in Christ shares something that they do or they show me a technique,
that they use in their lives and in their homemaking, it always inspires me.

I have found that even changing one little thing can make something seem new
And also appealing to our senses and atmosphere!

I have enjoyed baking most my life;
But there are times that just making one big sheet cake is just too much.
So I have enjoyed making a smaller version of the cake into of course;
Cupcakes...

We all enjoy something sweet as a treat at times,
So I have been making these cupcakes!

You can make a healthy version from scratch, or a boxed cake mix.
The frosting can be the sweet touch, but the sprinkles make them pretty.

I have often seen children just want a certain doughnut in a display case,
Just because of the sprinkles.

I did make some german chocolate ones a few weeks back,
Of course the frosting is what makes them so yummy!
I used coconut and pecans in it and it was delicious.

Chocolate And Coconut-Pecan Frosting

I egg, slightly beaten
2/3. Cup evaporated milk
2/3 Cup sugar
1 1/3 Cups shredded coconut
1/4 Cup butter
1/2 Cup chopped pecans
1 Tablespoon cocoa powder

In medium saucepan slightly beat egg.
Stir in evaporated milk, sugar and butter and cocoa powder.
Cook and stir over medium heat for 6-8 minutes or until thick and bubbly.
Remove from heat- stir in 1 1/3 cup coconut flakes and 1/2 cup chopped pecans.
Cover and allow to cool, then frost your cupcakes!

(My Sweet Daughter in law shared this recipe with me)
I added the chocolate powder to make it look and taste like a rich chocolate flavor.

I hope all of you ladies are enjoying and moving into a new season;

A Guest Blogger...

Just wanted to share my dear friend Stephanie with
You wonderful ladies!
I am so thankful to have a dear friend who will share a great post!
This is a sweet post and I know you will enjoy it!

Thank YOU...

Hello lovelies!
My name is Stephanie and I blog over at
The Enchanting Rose
My little place consists of crafts, sewing, recipes, hymns, tea cups,
and sweet encouragement from the Bible.
It is such an honor to be posting on Roxy's blog today.
Roxy has been an instrument of wisdom to me
and her blog posts have always taught and encouraged me .
Whether it's a lesson from God's Word or a delicious recipe I am always blessed.

Today I wanted to share with you a few family treasures
that belonged to my husband's side of the family.

My dear mother-in-law first gave me the cookbook and tea cup
for a house-warming gift when my darling hubby and I
moved into our new home back in January.
She wrote me a letter with a little history about the items -
they belonged to my husband's Gammie.

The heart hath its own memory, like the mind,
and in it are enshrined the precious keepsakes.
~ Unknown ~

Gammie had a Canadian friend, Alice,
that would come to North Carolina to work at Piedmont Baptist College.
Alice was the dietitian, menu maker, and cook.
She would return to Canada in the Summer and return to Piedmont in the Fall.
Alice gave Gammie the tea cup and cookbook which was later passed down to my mother-in-law
and now my husband and I have it.
My dad's side of the family is Canadian and I lived there for several years
so I find it fascinating that I would inherit something from my husband's side of the family
that came from a dear Canadian woman.
Don't you love the way God works?

Now onto the lovely hand-stitched quilt. . .
Once again, my sweet mother-in-law gave me a special gift and it was this quilt.
She gave it to my family on Mother's Day.

The Story. . .

Gammie and her husband were married in 1948
and her mother which would be the grandmother of my mother-in-law
asked a lady to make this quilt for Gammie as a wedding gift.
The quilt was never given to Gammie for her wedding. . .
You see, while this lady was working on the quilt top she had a stroke and was unable to finish.
The top remained in plastic wrapping in Gammie's dresser drawer for years
so in the mid-1980's my mother-in-law took the quilt top home to see if someone could finish it.
There was a lady in the church who took the quilt and finished it.
My mother-in-law sent the finished quilt to Gammie for Christmas -
she was finally able to enjoy it after almost 40 years of keeping it tucked away in a dresser drawer.
Gammie, a lady I did not have the privilege of knowing, passed away in 1999.
I now have pieces of the past from this precious woman
whom my husband lovingly calls 'Gammie.'
Family is beautiful - may we never forget the stories of the past
and may they forever be close to our hearts.

The past is just the beginning of a beginning.
~ H.G. Wells ~

Thank you, Roxy, for allowing me to be apart of your wonderful blog.
It was truly a pleasure being here today.
Hugs and blessings to all of you!

Afternoon Tea... Featuring Charm of Home and Rose Chintz Cottage...

Tea and Roses

There has been so many lovely blogs that I have visited that share my love and interest
Of tea and all the beautiful china cups and teapots!

I love to visit them and get inspired of the days gone by;
But I feel that there is a special part of us that long for the
Tranquility and Peace...

Here are a couple of my most favorites:
The Charm Of Home

Rose Chintz Cottage

Please stop in and visit these wonderful Blogs;

The Charm of Home is a lovely lady named Sherry!
She will inspire you; and she has some gluten free recipes to share!

Rose Chintz Cottage is also a very kind lady named Sandi!
She loves her tea parties, also!
And she also shares yummy treats!

A typical afternoon tea began after the lunch dishes were cleared by the servants and the lady of the house summoned her maid to join her upstairs to change into her tea gown. Meanwhile, downstairs in the kitchen, the cooks prepare scones, biscuits, small sandwiches and tea cakes. The family and their guests took tea in the drawing room at 5:00 p.m. In Britain, the drink of choice is black tea taken with milk and sugar. To keep up with social status, the food served was designed to impress the guests. The presence of an overly accessorized table with fancy French patisseries, delectable cakes, puddings and fine chocolates.

For aristocrats in the Edwardian era, women attended estate dinners wearing extravagant gowns, silk gloves and hats, while the gentlemen were fashionably attired in tuxedos. Each meal carried its own dress code, and in some instances, women would change several times a day depending on the occasion. In those days, a woman often had a maid to help her dress. To assist in the beauty of the female figure, women relied on tight-laced corsets to create an hourglass shape. Ladies of high society dressed for an afternoon tea in fanciful tea gowns and floral bonnets embellished with pastel ribbons and roses that emulated the shades of a summer bouquet. All across Europe, roses were a constant theme in tearoom decorating, accoutrements and fabrics; trellises of roses even helped transport an English garden indoors.

Blogs I Love

Writing comes from the heart,
 And the heart beats life.
I have had a desire to do a post where I feature a new blog
in each segment of a time frame.
I will choose a new one from those blogs I love to read.
It is such a joy to read and to respond to those blogs
 that have nourished me.
Some of them have made me laugh and a few times
 even shed a tear.
Some have inspired me to create,
And called me to overcome in my hard times.
I have been challenged and convicted.
I desire to live and grow and to share my heart.
My heart is to speak life and to share the goodness;
So I humbly  respond to the Lord;
For He says promotion comes not
from the east or the west,
But from the Lord.
Now featuring the blogs I love.
Tomorrow
Tomorrow is only a day away!
Blessings,
