Red, White And Blue, These Colors Do Not Run...

Living From Glory To Glory Blog, Country Living

Country Red, White And Blue...
These colors don't run.
 They  stand up under duress!
Wear and tear and blistering sun...
These Things Will
Keep you on your toes and teaches us to keep a good sturdy pair of boots on!

I am learning to be a lady even in rough conditions;
Hail, Heat, Gully Washers!
This is the first year I have not killed at least a few rattlers....
(Thank You God)

I painted our bird feeder out front this morning.
I painted our old metal swing set also.
I started scraping the old paint of my clothes line.
I am painting all these things my country Red Color!

Yesterday, after cleaning all my cupboards out, of all the foods that,
Had now turned limp from the humidity, I thought I would go out and
Take a little rest in the kids hammock next doors tied up between two trees.
I kid you not;
I got into that thing and it just spun around and threw me to the ground!
I could not believe it;
I said aloud....

SERIOUSLY

So last night required two aspirins and some wintergreen oil on my shoulder.
I awoke feeling like I had ridden a Wild Bronco!
But no, I was just dumped out of a hammock right onto my backside.

SERIOUSLY

This is how I imagined it was going to go!

A girl needs to look like a lady
Dress like a lady
Talk like a lady
But work like she can get a job done...
I am not a wimp, I enjoy getting my house painted and clean!
Sometimes it does require work gloves, work clothing and boots!!

My husband is always so amazed that I am willing to jump in!
Trim trees, paint, pull weeds...
Whatever it takes to help alleviate some of the work and burden!

I believe God has made women very strong and a bit of grit...

We have helped this country by working alongside our men!
Yes, I firstly keep our home running smoothly and something to eat!
But there are times that we just need to help get the extra stuff done!

I have never been afraid of hard work!

This country has always been under attack from either,
The enemy or a wicked person or a natural disaster!
War or a downturn in something!

But we are told to look to the hills where our help comes from!
May you all have a wonderful life!
God Bless America...
God Bless America

SERIOUSLY...

  1. Oh Roxy, I hope you didn't hurt yourself too badly! We were just talking about hammocks the other day and someone mentioned how "tricky" they can be. I guess you found that out! I love country red too and sometime during our home reno, we will have a red house when it is all said and done...always wanted to live in a red house! I hope you enjoy your 4th of July weekend, friend! Blessings!

  4. So, you did the "old hammock flip".
I've done that a time or two, myself.
I usually get up real quick to see if anyone was looking or laughing.

Red, White and Blue, these colors DON'T run!
Happy 4th of July, Roxy. Great post!

  6. I am SO sorry I didn't get to watch the hammock twirl and dump! :) Gosh, it sure made me laugh! I hope you don't hurt for long. The red swing set and other outdoor things sound so pretty - good for you! Aren't we blessed to live in such a wonderful country that allows us to express ourselves and to worship our Lord freely. I am very grateful.

  7. I'm really sorry about your fall from the hammock! Many years ago, I fell on my tailbone at the roller rink. About a week later, I fell out of a hammock on my tailbone and somehow the second fall cured the first one. I don't necessarily recommend that for you, though. Sounds like you have it under control. ;-)
I am a hard worker, too and my husband constantly remarks about it as he spends a lot of time in his lazy boy these days. I think he wants me to take it easy.
You are right. Our help does comes from the Lord and we will have to keep our eyes on Him as we continue in our journey in this world. We are still living in a better place than the majority of the world, but times they are changing.

  9. Oh Roxy....I am sorry about your spill out of the hammock...but I must admit, I did giggle....just a little.
I agree with you about helping when there's a job that needs to be done. We are man's "help mate"...so I guess that includes manual labor when need be.
Good for you! Getting all of your painting projects, and cleaning projects accomplished! Feels good, doesn't it?
Enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend...it's been a busy one around here.
Much love being sent your way, dear friend.

  10. Hope you don't mind, but I got tickled reading about your hammock dump! I can just picture it now...lol! I have done that myself. It happens so quickly...lol! Great post Roxy...you sound like me. I am not afraid of hard work and have always pitched in and done whatever needs to be done. Hope you had a wonderful Independence Day! Hugs, Vicky

  11. I'm telling you...those hammocks are dangerous! They should come with a warning label...haha! Glad you are doing better, even though I'm sure your sore from all the hard labor you have been doing these passed few weeks. Prairie living is hard work and I'm thankful God gives us the strength we need to do those hard tasks. I am no wimp, but so glad I have the help of family(when needed). I hope you have a relaxing afternoon. Hugs, Amy

  13. Understand the hammock thing! Whew! Can't take it like I used to. I think the happenings in our courts and land have only made us get on our knees more and God promises that when we do, He will answer and heal.
