Taking What You Have For Granted

We Are Selling Our Camper

Now this is the top of the line!
It's one of it's kind...

Home Away From Home
(Or Not)
Maybe this is there home!! ??

I have always had an interest of the times of the
Great Depression.

There were so many people that endured such hardships.

We, that live in such prosperous times;
may be void of knowing hard times,
And as a result of that they
  never gained a real appreciation
for what they have!

It is pictures like these that help me to not take what we have for granted!

How can we appreciate what we have when we have
been inundated with consumerism?

Yet many still need help to feed themselves even today!

The last time we used our camper was a year ago so we are selling it!
My sweet hubby just had to get some hearing aids.
He is so amazed with how well he can hear!
But the cost was really expensive .

So, being the kind of wife my hubby needs,
was for me to say!!
Lets sell the camper so we do not have to have that huge debt over us!

We as women must be the help mates our hubbies need.
And being frugal and wise is one of the biggest we can be
when it is needed.

We should not take what we have for granted;
Our lives
Our hearing
Our food
Our provisions

So, may we start to appreciate what we do have!

Tell your hubby;
How much you appreciate how well he has provides for you,
He needs to HEAR that.
As that is how God created a man to function.

Blessings,

  1. I love your sweet post. I was born during the depression...the last day of 1937. My dad always had a good job..he was a printer and never lost his job thru the depression. We lived in Dallas, Tx and I have memories, some very vague..some vivid, of those years. My mama was a Rosie, The Riveter, working in defense plants. Many hard times but I can only remember a wonderful childhood.:)

  3. Once again, your words have blessed my soul. I do try hard not to take things for granted and try to be thankful for ALL things....big and small, good and bad. Sounds like getting the debt off your shoulders is more important than owning a rarely used camper. Sometimes it's just the idea of purging something from our lives that is harder than the actually act. I know that's how it is for me....:)Prayers that you well it quickly and can pay off the hearing aides! I know your hubby is glad to be able to hear well again!

    Blessings, Vicky

  5. Great post, Roxy. I think we should sell our "camper", too. We need to finish it up before we can sell it though. You are so right- men need to hear it more than women, I think, that they are appreciated. Glad you hubby can hear- now he has NO excuse not to ask How High- when you say Jump!;>) xo Diana

  6. Hi Roxy! What a miracle hearing aids are...there must have been a lot of yelling in the old days!

    How generous of you to ease your husbands anxiety about the bill for the little miracles. I am sure he thinks he married the best girl in the world!

    Peace in Christ,
    Ceil

  7. Yes, when we stop and just look at what we have, we can re-appreciate the wonderful blessings He has given us. I am so thankful to Him. I loved your picture of the "camper" above...that was great, where did you find that? Its just as well to sell the camper; much better to be out of debt; and it doesn't seem like camping is the best these days with all the fires. Oh, I got my tulle, and sewed it up and I want to thank you so much for the great idea... I think its going to do the trick. Talk to you soon.

  9. What a great reminder Roxy. I thank God every day for what I have. I truly feel blessed. Hard to think that there are those who go to bed hungry every day when are cupboards are over flowing. Not only with food, but WAY more dishes than one girl needs. lol! You are a good wife. Happy that hubby can hear better now.
    hugs,
    Jann
