How The Fine Art Of Being Quiet Will Allow You To Hear The Lord...

Living From Glory To Glory Blog...

How Being Alone Can Be A Gift...

The loneliness is as thick as fog at times;
But alas, this is not loneliness but rather being alone.
We live in a culture and an era where there is hardly ever real quietness!
We have background music, even while in an elevator.
When we become so uncomfortable with quiet, we miss something...

With all the noise and activity that goes on around us, we truly do not
know what real quiet really sounds like.
Quiet can be in the wind, and in the rustling of the leaves.
I believe I even heard the stars twinkle once.

We want to hear something...

Only those that can handle a bit of quiet will be able to hear that still small voice!

When we will finally learn the fine art of quiet;
We then will have a place or space that is not filled with noise or just busy!

Giving heed to the small things that do come from the Lord;
I would call these promptings...

I feel bad when a woman who has a heart to stay at home and she
is belittled for not wanting more...
More WHAT!

I understand the great demands on us all!
Overwhelming at times...

But when and if you are offered the gift of staying home;
Maybe just for a day or to come home to raise your little ones!
Give it as much thought as possible!
Money comes and goes!
Homes grow and feel welcoming when someone is in residence.
Children grow and leave quicker than anything!
Age comes and settles no matter how you think you have the fountain of youth!

We all have a very small window to catch the whisper of God's voice.
Quiet your hearts for a moment every day;
I promise He will speak to you!

(Just a note to say I was not referring to meditation as in yoga)
But rather...
Meditating on the Word Of God

When and where is your most quiet time to hear the Lord?

  1. I look forward to my mornings, out on our back patio.
    I watch the sun peek around the roof tops. This is when I watch and listen all the birds.

    I agree, "We all have a very small window to catch the whisper of God's voice."

    Good reminder!

  2. I have lots of quiet time since it's just me and my dog, Sadie home during the day all summer. I love quiet time to meditate on God's word and listen to Him speak to me. Hope you are doing well my friend! Hugs & Blessings, Vicky

  3. This is edifying Roxy and it lifted my heart tonight.
    I love your thought....."We all have a very small window to catch the whisper of God's Voice."
    I have a little chair I sit in during the morning hours when everyone in the house is still sleeping. Here I pray and read the Word and visit with Jesus.

  4. I need my quiet time! Just today I was craving it and I got in my car with my camera and went walking at a local park. Hardly a soul was there and I enjoyed the afternoon strolling and stopping every now and then to take photos of some wildflowers, all the while, talking to Jesus just like He was walking right beside me...because He was! Another favorite thing to do while visiting the shore is get up before anyone else and walk on the beach...but mostly just stand there and look at it...in awe of it and it's Creator :)

  5. Great post! Anytime or anywhere I can find a time to just sit and be still is always good. When I first get up in the mornings, I'm excited to read my daily devotion and listen for God's voice.Praising God and thanking Him for all His blessings.

  6. It is so true my dear friend. We cannot hear Him in all the chaos and clamoring. We cannot hear Him in all the striving and trying to attain. He is heard in the quiet. As He has said in His word "Be still and know that I am God". I find that peace in Him when I stop, pull back from the rat race of life, and find that "Secret place". I always appreciate your posts so much Rox. They are such a timely reminder of the better things. Thanks.
    Love ya bunches

  8. My quiet time is very early in the morning. Because I worked full time, early mornings were my fresh start of the day and best time spent with The Lord. I didn't have children, but I always had a longing to stay home. Since retiring, I still rise around 5 or 5:30 and have a couple of hours to myself, for which I am thankful. It is so special to me.

  10. Hi Roxy, I love my quiet time to think, pray and reflect on life. Early mornings are my favorite time to be quiet and listen. I always get up early and love to face the fresh new day with the hopes of whats to come. Praying and having a conversation with God, just HE and I, is a gift and one I would not trade it for anything.
    Thank you for sharing. Hope you're feeling better.
    Blessings for a wonderful rest of the weekend. cm

  12. Oh the beautiful words in this post that are timeless and true! Makes me think of the words of the Psalmist David Psalms 63:1 "O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land where no water is..." Indeed... every morning as I rise, my heart longs and seeks His presence, so wonderful to rise and share that time with Him before the busy-ness of the day begins. Taking time to hear His voice - no better way to refresh and renew you soul. Beautiful words dear Roxy! May the Lord continue to bless your heart as you write for His glory! Many hugs :)

  13. this reminds me of Ps.46:10 Roxy. Be still and know that I am God. Just sitting still and entering into His presence. What a wonderful place to be....in that quiet place with HIM.
    I love this post, it speaks to my spirit.
    You are such an inspiration.
    Have a blessed Sunday evening, dear friend.

  14. This is one thing I find sad about people with a cell phone or other techie equipment in their hands constantly. We all have so much to do in life that we need to stop and listen for Him. You have to take the time. No one else can do it for you. Now that my husband is retired I am never alone so finding the time for that quiet time is again something I have to work on. The young mothers with the children always at their skirt hem find the time so I should be able to. No excuse. Yes I agree it is Needed. I am newish to your blog and am so blessed by it. Thank you for writing, sharing and mentoring to us. Sarah

  15. What a good word.

    We were just discussing this in my Sunday School class this past week - the idea of being more still and quite, more aware and more in tune with the Lord.

    Appreciate your words today~

    Fond your post on Wise Woman Link Up. (I seem to be following you today!)

    Blessings,
    Melanie
