You Can Be A Proverbs 31 Woman At Any Age...

 Proverbs 31 Woman, Living From Glory To Glory Blog

Hold On! You Can Do This With Grace

~In her hand she holds the distaff and grasp the spindle with her fingers~

Hymn to a Good Wife

10-31 A good woman is hard to find,
and worth far more than diamonds.
Her husband trusts her without reserve,
and never has reason to regret it.
Never spiteful, she treats him generously
all her life long.
She shops around for the best yarns and cottons,
and enjoys knitting and sewing.
She’s like a trading ship that sails to faraway places
and brings back exotic surprises.
She’s up before dawn, preparing breakfast
for her family and organizing her day.
She looks over a field and buys it,
then, with money she’s put aside, plants a garden.
First thing in the morning, she dresses for work,
rolls up her sleeves, eager to get started.
She senses the worth of her work,
is in no hurry to call it quits for the day.
She’s skilled in the crafts of home and hearth,
diligent in homemaking.
She’s quick to assist anyone in need,
reaches out to help the poor.
She doesn’t worry about her family when it snows;
their winter clothes are all mended and ready to wear.
She makes her own clothing,
and dresses in colorful linens and silks.
Her husband is greatly respected
when he deliberates with the city fathers.
She designs gowns and sells them,
brings the sweaters she knits to the dress shops.
Her clothes are well-made and elegant,
and she always faces tomorrow with a smile.
When she speaks she has something worthwhile to say,
and she always says it kindly.
She keeps an eye on everyone in her household,
and keeps them all busy and productive.
Her children respect and bless her;
her husband joins in with words of praise:
“Many women have done wonderful things,
but you’ve outclassed them all!”
Charm can mislead and beauty soon fades.
The woman to be admired and praised
is the woman who lives in the Fear-of-God.
Give her everything she deserves!
Adorn her life with praises!  Message Version

Strength and Dignity Are Her Clothing

Remember She Always Speaks With Kindness...

Remember Charm can mislead and beauty fades!

Learn to shop for your best deals and price.

Always organize your day

(Just do Something)

You don't have to sew your own clothes;

But get dressed for your work day;

"But look nice"

Ask YOURSELF

Can others trust you?

Hold your tongue, just because you thought it,

Does not mean you should say it!

She opens he mouth with wisdom,

and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue!

~Let your words be like honey, for you may have to eat them~

"The woman to be admired and praised

Is the woman who lives in the fear-of-God"

May we all strive to be this kind of woman at every stage of life.

  1. Thank you Roxy. I can't knit but I do crochet and I'm a beginner sewer. I really like it and fun. This post was as always very encouraging.

  2. I like this translation! How fun that just today I washed and ironed fabric for five new summer dresses in preparation of cutting them out tomorrow. Lest you think I have lots of clothes, my current summer dresses are starting to show signs of wear. I thought to myself, "my goodness they are wearing out quickly" and then I realized it's been 7 or 8 years since I made them. I have five summer dresses and five winter dresses at any one time. That's it! Well, I also have a pair of nice stretch pants to wear under my dress when I was having physical therapy for my back. Otherwise that's it! I love dresses and think they are much more comfortable than pants. It's also very freeing to just have five choices on any given day. Usually I just rotate through them every day. I've been doing this for about 9 years now and it has made life SO much easier and no more clothes shopping! Hallelujah!
    Have a lovely Wednesday Roxy!
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  4. Such a special Proverb. A guide and model for us women. I learned from a godly mother, who always took care of herself, look nice, wore a housedress and apron. Back then, she did sew and make our clothes. She been in heaven since 1991, and I miss her every day.

  5. I like this translation, too! It all boils down to, Love God with all your heart and love others as you do yourself. If we are following these, everything else falls into place. After all, "The Greatest Of These Is Love".
    Speaking of love, thank you for the kind and encouraging comment you left on my blog and thank you so much for your prayers.
