Taking Pleasure
"You Say It's Your Birthday" Happy Birthday! This is the day the Lord has made I will rejoice and be glad in it. I must admit I have had more pumpkin pies for my birthday with candles in it then I can count. Because my birthday has either fallen on Thanksgiving day, or has been in the same week, my whole life. I have always had to pray my way through the holidays. I believe there are just some things attached to birthdays, and holidays. But praise God he has given us freedom, and the ability to overcome. It is not like something bad happened to me. It is more like a false expectation, I put on it! So, I rejoice knowing that I can walk in freedom And enjoy this Birthday, because of His grace. Also, I have been learning to take pleasure in the holidays. Every year has been more of a release, to be in Him. And not allow my hold to a false expectations to take control. Being transparent has helped. Let us not hold ourselves in high esteem, but rather humble ourselves. That He may exalt us in do time. Blessings, Roxy |

A living Example
My Oldest Grand Daughter an my Youngest Grandson |
Big sister is reading to her little brother.
I must admit it makes my heart feel so full, to see the love and care she is showing her little brother. We live in such a day that we do not give the example and the home life to teach this to our children anymore. With older siblings off to school or the wee ones in day care. But thank God more and more families our working at keeping the family together. And it is our biblical duty from the scriptures to help mentor, our daughters and encourage them in their pursuit to stay at home.
And to also thank our sons for allowing them to do so.
I realize we all can not stay at home!
But as I have said many times it is where your heart is !
May we all pursue to keep the home fires burning.
May our children say: There's NO place like home.
No matter how old or how far they live away:)

Count Your Blessings
Gobble- Gobble!
Happy Thanksgiving
I am taking this time and counting my blessings!
It is so important to give thanks,
it truly opens the heart.
You cannot be counting your blessings, and
be un-thankful at the same time.
So choose blessings!
Count your blessings:
Name them one by one,
1.God choosing and loving me.
2.Having a husband that serves Christ.
3.Having family.
4.Having friends.
5.Being a grandma
6.Being able to study God's Word.
7.Having a home to live in.
8.Being healthy and strong.
9.To be able to worship freely.
10.To be able to love others.
He blesses the house of the righteous.

Kitchen Skills
Making Pies
This picture just brings back such a sweet idea
of home and family.
I myself can never get past the wholesome heart,
that was always intended for the family.
And it did take heart!
Not the (only myself) attitude.
These skills were not just there by osmosis,
but rather taught and practiced in the home.
As women, wives and mothers,
we have a custom and heritage we must keep alive!
PIES
Apple pie
Pumpkin pie
Cherry pie
Pecan pie
The list could go on and on!
Don your aprons ladies...
Baking season has begun:)
Each one should use whatever gift he
has received to serve others.

Unique and Lovely
Unique Gift Wrapping
Here is a photo of last years birthday gift
from my sister.
I actually feel as excited over the way she wraps her
gifts, and the way she presents them, as
the thoughtful gifts she sends.
the thoughtful gifts she sends.
Last year each gift was wrapped in a lovely old
doily, tied with jute and a orange ribbon.
These doily's were also
sentimental as they belonged to
our mother.
I was just thinking of this as a great idea
to use, as we are so close to
the gift giving season.
There was also an idea that I used one year.
I bought a bunch of very inexpensive fabric,
and I sewed up bags to put gifts in.
I tied them with ribbon, and added a gift tag.
The tag was made out of brown paper
sacks cut out in a cute design.
I traced out the designs from my cookie cutters.
I know we all want to use our
resources wisely.
I think we can also give gifts of
things that already belong to us. Such
a much loved plate or bowl,
a treasured tea cup.
Think outside the media gift ideas!
Ask God for creative gift ideas!
To the man who please Him,
God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness.

Elegant Tea
Simple Tea
Even the most modest tea pot and cup,
served with a lace table cloth,
makes it fit for a Queen.
The simple but elegant!
Never under estimate a cup of tea.
Take time and be still.

Recycled Mittens
Mitten Weather
I was just going through some of my favorites,
and I found some great ideas on recycled mittens.
We all know very cold days and snow are ahead for some of us.
We really are praying for snow as we have
been in a terrible drought.
We have been so busy doing some home make-overs, that
it has been a challenge to find time to do anything else.
I love to sew and to craft and to make things lovely
for my home and family.
There are so many ideas on the web for making mittens from old sweaters!

Kitchen Blessings
Sanding and priming . See my new stove? This is what started the make-over:) |
I had my drawer fronts refaced, what a difference it made. |
My sweet grandson! I painted the island a completely different color. |
See my chicken's? I love the wains coat we glued in the center of each cabinet. |
The brick board added the cozy touch it needed. See the red top rail? |
See my antique oatmeal canister? |
My long counter top. Love the brick board. |
My chandelier is my most favorite touch!
My heart has been so full of His love and grace!
This the most beautiful kitchen I
have ever had!
I feel blessed beyond
words!

Whistle While You Work
I really love to iron!
Ok, your all thinking this girl needs to get a life!!
I like to get all the tops and bottoms,
that I may be wearing soon.
Also, I iron my aprons!
I like them to be clean and fresh and (not wrinkled)
And I put up my ironing board in the kitchen,
it is usually up in my/spare room/
sewing room/ect.
But I do enjoy being in the heart of my home.
I can listen to worship music, or a teaching tape.
Also maybe get a post started:)
And to watch what I may have cooking on the stove.
My sister can- not believe that I love to iron.
I told her one day maybe,
it's the only thing I can control
wrinkles!
We must be diligent,
and focus on what is really important!
Our time with the Lord
Honoring and respecting our Husbands!

Honoring Others
Showing Honor
I was just thinking how fast the holidays
are approaching, and to realize that another
year has gone by.
This is a picture of a surprise lunch
Birthday party given to me
last November.
I was turning 55 years young.
So that means in a matter of weeks I will be turning 56.
So what I have been thinking about
all this last year was the kindness,
and love, and I honor that was
shown to me!
It still brings tears to my eyes,
and a lump in my throat.
I believe in showing honor to those God,
has given us :
Family, and friends,
mentors, and Pastors.
We can show honor in so many different ways.
As you bless others, you yourself
will be blessed.
Maybe we can start now asking the Lord
for ways that we can show honor to others.
This holiday season could be a time to
really let others know what they have
meant to you.
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love.
Honor one another above yourselves.
