Good Golly,
Where did all the fashion Police Go?
They are everywhere when you just one time do not get dressed for the day,
Or even think about running into town without getting ready
You tell yourself;
(But it is going to be just a quick trip into the store)
DO NOT....
I repeat, DO NOT think this is possible,
You will always run into that one person who is so put together,
You will think this is a conspiracy....
I think one of the most valuable things to do each and every morning is
THIS...
Shower, and do your hair, put on something that looks clean and pretty!
Now, you will know that this is not your usual routine when
Your children see you and they ask you;
Mommy, is this Sunday?
Or, if they ask if they are going somewhere?
Making a habit of staying in your PJS for most the day is a bad idea!!
I was a Home school Mom for many years;
I even asked my children to dress and brush their teeth and wash their faces,
To teach them to be prepared for the day.
It is really all about training and making good habits. To look
Presentable and ready!
Come on Dear Ones, We must stop this downgrading of how we look
And carry ourselves, with some poise and charm!
Maybe we need some Charm Schooling to train and teach this next generation.
After all, so many women are not being a very good example;
And to you ladies out there who do try to look lovely
THANK YOU!
My dear Roxie,
ReplyDeleteI love this post so much!
May I ask you to check out a post I did on this topic... http://shesclassic.blogspot.com/2014/01/dressing-it-up-at-home.html
Thank you for sharing. You always share smart ideas and dare to touch topics that most won't try to touch!
Blessings :-)
Homeschool gave us a better opportunity to get dresses up for the day. In public school days kids sometimes slept in their clothes and slept til the last minute, rushing out the door with a piece of toast in their mouth while they zipped their jacket. Homeschool was a great time to teach the deliberate act of grooming in the morning, As well as leaving the bathroom nice and tidy out of courtesy for the next person. Dressing for the day is also a courtesy and a reflection of our great God.
ReplyDeleteLove this post Rox.. its so true. Love your correlations… I am as I write sitting here in my… jammies; good gracious. But the good news is I haven't gone anywhere yet, and I am on the verge of getting myself my into the shower (I think I just heard an "Amen" downstairs somewhere). It does really seem as if something has changed in our world, no let me rephrase that many things have changed, and not for the better… and this is one of them). We need to maintain our outward self, our inward self, our homes, and our relationships, or they will all fall apart. Okay girlfriend I am off for my shower. Love this post very much.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post. Your blog is a refreshing encouragement to me as a homemaker. Thank you for sharing your wisdom with us!
ReplyDeleteSuch a great post! Not all of us want to look like the walmartians!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a wonderful day!
Hugs,
Amy
Roxy, you hit the nail on the head! I have been guilty of that running out to the store business too! I always get caught! You are so right... I always feel so much better when I am doing the best I can with what I have! Great post!
ReplyDeleteI always dress up when at home, make sure my hair is done, put earrings on, have something nice on and occasionally add make-up. One never knows who will knock on the door. And it makes you better able to start the day.
ReplyDeleteEven when I go to the local store I put something presentable on and have never wandered to the local store in slippers and PJs!!
I also take care with what I wear to work and try hard to look feminine with what I wear.
GREAT ADVICE- I learned this from my aunt many years ago. She said-get up-wash your face, throw on some lipstick-comb your hair, brush your teeth, make your bed and get dressed. Then no matter what happens you will feel good about YOURSELF all day and can crawl into a fresh made bed if the day has been awful. I have followed that advice my whole adult life. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteRoxy,
ReplyDeleteI loved reading this. I completely agree. I have found when I get myself prettied up for the day that my day is at such a better start then if I stayed in my PJ's. I think the kids have a better start in their day as well.
Lots of love!

This post made me smile big. You are so right on the money as usual.
ReplyDeleteThanks for pointing this out.

Amen, my friend! I must admit that I rarely, and I mean rarely, go out to down without a little makeup on. Maybe I am just self-conscious, but I do like to look put together :) Another thought is that we are representing Christ everywhere we go and people do look at our outward appearance as well as our actions. When we are out with greasy hair and pajama bottoms what kind of picture are we portraying of our Lord?
ReplyDeleteGreat post, friend! Hugs to you!
I have not worn make-up for years (skin sensitivities), though I enjoy putting a bit of shine on my lips and a wee bit of fragrance on.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right!!! I feel so much better when I first get myself ready and then Winston....then I clean the house up....then I can enjoy anything the day has coming. I have to say that Mondays are hard if I have an exciting post to do, I tend to drop everything and play with projects with Winston while we are in our pjs hehehe. I think I will dress us first now and enjoy our projects EVEN more!
ReplyDeleteI appreciate and love your wisdom :)
Roxy,
ReplyDeleteYou are so right It just amazes me when I go to town at how many girls and women just throw on something ( not sure they even comb their hair) and got to town. I have tried to teach my girls to always fix them selves up before they go out any where. Although when I am in a hurry to get to town and I have to wait an hour for them to get ready I do have to remind myself that a least they try to take a little pride in how they look lol
Now that I am home all day it is easy to let the make up and fixing the hair go but I have noticed that the day goes by much better when I take the few extra minutes in the morning to get all put together.
Hope you have a great day.

About three years ago I had to run to the store to buy a box of feminine products. I was in sweats, no make up and my hair was grungy. I didn't expect to run into anyone.. I had gotten what I needed and was standing in line at the check out when I hear "hi there" I turn around and find myself face to face with my pastor!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny now, but at the moment it was horrible!
