Taking Pleasure
| "You Say It's Your Birthday" Happy Birthday! This is the day the Lord has made I will rejoice and be glad in it. I must admit I have had more pumpkin pies for my birthday with candles in it then I can count. Because my birthday has either fallen on Thanksgiving day, or has been in the same week, my whole life. I have always had to pray my way through the holidays. I believe there are just some things attached to birthdays, and holidays. But praise God he has given us freedom, and the ability to overcome. It is not like something bad happened to me. It is more like a false expectation, I put on it! So, I rejoice knowing that I can walk in freedom And enjoy this Birthday, because of His grace. Also, I have been learning to take pleasure in the holidays. Every year has been more of a release, to be in Him. And not allow my hold to a false expectations to take control. Being transparent has helped. Let us not hold ourselves in high esteem, but rather humble ourselves. That He may exalt us in do time. Blessings, Roxy |

A living Example
![]() |
| My Oldest Grand Daughter an my Youngest Grandson |
Big sister is reading to her little brother.
I must admit it makes my heart feel so full, to see the love and care she is showing her little brother. We live in such a day that we do not give the example and the home life to teach this to our children anymore. With older siblings off to school or the wee ones in day care. But thank God more and more families our working at keeping the family together. And it is our biblical duty from the scriptures to help mentor, our daughters and encourage them in their pursuit to stay at home.
And to also thank our sons for allowing them to do so.
I realize we all can not stay at home!
But as I have said many times it is where your heart is !
May we all pursue to keep the home fires burning.
May our children say: There's NO place like home.
No matter how old or how far they live away:)

Count Your Blessings
Gobble- Gobble!
Happy Thanksgiving
I am taking this time and counting my blessings!
It is so important to give thanks,
it truly opens the heart.
You cannot be counting your blessings, and
be un-thankful at the same time.
So choose blessings!
Count your blessings:
Name them one by one,
1.God choosing and loving me.
2.Having a husband that serves Christ.
3.Having family.
4.Having friends.
5.Being a grandma
6.Being able to study God's Word.
7.Having a home to live in.
8.Being healthy and strong.
9.To be able to worship freely.
10.To be able to love others.
He blesses the house of the righteous.

Kitchen Skills
Making Pies
This picture just brings back such a sweet idea
of home and family.
I myself can never get past the wholesome heart,
that was always intended for the family.
And it did take heart!
Not the (only myself) attitude.
These skills were not just there by osmosis,
but rather taught and practiced in the home.
As women, wives and mothers,
we have a custom and heritage we must keep alive!
PIES
Apple pie
Pumpkin pie
Cherry pie
Pecan pie
The list could go on and on!
Don your aprons ladies...
Baking season has begun:)
Each one should use whatever gift he
has received to serve others.

Unique and Lovely
Unique Gift Wrapping
Here is a photo of last years birthday gift
from my sister.
I actually feel as excited over the way she wraps her
gifts, and the way she presents them, as
the thoughtful gifts she sends.
the thoughtful gifts she sends.
Last year each gift was wrapped in a lovely old
doily, tied with jute and a orange ribbon.
These doily's were also
sentimental as they belonged to
our mother.
I was just thinking of this as a great idea
to use, as we are so close to
the gift giving season.
There was also an idea that I used one year.
I bought a bunch of very inexpensive fabric,
and I sewed up bags to put gifts in.
I tied them with ribbon, and added a gift tag.
The tag was made out of brown paper
sacks cut out in a cute design.
I traced out the designs from my cookie cutters.
I know we all want to use our
resources wisely.
I think we can also give gifts of
things that already belong to us. Such
a much loved plate or bowl,
a treasured tea cup.
Think outside the media gift ideas!
Ask God for creative gift ideas!
To the man who please Him,
God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness.

Elegant Tea
Simple Tea
Even the most modest tea pot and cup,
served with a lace table cloth,
makes it fit for a Queen.
The simple but elegant!
Never under estimate a cup of tea.
Take time and be still.

Recycled Mittens
Mitten Weather
I was just going through some of my favorites,
and I found some great ideas on recycled mittens.
We all know very cold days and snow are ahead for some of us.
We really are praying for snow as we have
been in a terrible drought.
We have been so busy doing some home make-overs, that
it has been a challenge to find time to do anything else.
I love to sew and to craft and to make things lovely
for my home and family.
There are so many ideas on the web for making mittens from old sweaters!

Whistle While You Work
I really love to iron!
Ok, your all thinking this girl needs to get a life!!
I like to get all the tops and bottoms,
that I may be wearing soon.
Also, I iron my aprons!
I like them to be clean and fresh and (not wrinkled)
And I put up my ironing board in the kitchen,
it is usually up in my/spare room/
sewing room/ect.
But I do enjoy being in the heart of my home.
I can listen to worship music, or a teaching tape.
Also maybe get a post started:)
And to watch what I may have cooking on the stove.
My sister can- not believe that I love to iron.
I told her one day maybe,
it's the only thing I can control
wrinkles!
We must be diligent,
and focus on what is really important!
Our time with the Lord
Honoring and respecting our Husbands!

Honoring Others
Showing Honor
I was just thinking how fast the holidays
are approaching, and to realize that another
year has gone by.
This is a picture of a surprise lunch
Birthday party given to me
last November.
I was turning 55 years young.
So that means in a matter of weeks I will be turning 56.
So what I have been thinking about
all this last year was the kindness,
and love, and I honor that was
shown to me!
It still brings tears to my eyes,
and a lump in my throat.
I believe in showing honor to those God,
has given us :
Family, and friends,
mentors, and Pastors.
We can show honor in so many different ways.
As you bless others, you yourself
will be blessed.
Maybe we can start now asking the Lord
for ways that we can show honor to others.
This holiday season could be a time to
really let others know what they have
meant to you.
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love.
Honor one another above yourselves.

Pressure Canning Chicken...
Fruits Of Our Labor
Here is a picture of some of the chicken we
Pressured canned.
It was so easy to do, it just takes a long time
The class we took at our extension office
Also, to learn to not be intimidated by pressure canning:)
We are hoping to become well stocked with meats.
It is so convenient to just open a
Jar of chicken or beef and add to your,
Soups or stews.
I am so blessed to have learned the love
Of home keeping,
From my own Mother.
In all labor there is profit

Mondays
Monday
I have always found it to be wise to try and keep my Mondays
free from any added appt. and such.
Then it allows me time to get my home in order,
washing caught up. Some meals planned out,
and maybe something sweet for the week.
But, I also realize Mondays can be the very beginning
of many a women's busy work week.
And my thought is this:
You all are amazing!
What I have seen and heard from many women
is this:
There hearts our at HOME...
Just know this, that just because you have to work or want to work,
your still a keeper of the home.
Your loving touches and concerns for
each person, is what make a
House a HOME.
May you be blessed and just know that your family
will know where your heart is!

Everyone Says Glory...
The voice of the Lord...
Strips the forest bare;
And in His temple everyone says,
"Glory!"
Psalms29:9
A fresh glimpse of His Glory!
Be still and know
He is God.
I awoke to our first dusting of snow this morning.
It is time to be ready for shorter days,
And longer nights.
A cozy fire burning, and a longer time to spend
With the Lord and study.
I also got to check out all my favorite blogs,
and leave a comment on most of them.
I have found a sweet kinship with these
gals, seeing a part of their lives and homes.
How it must please the Father,
that we desire to be the home-keepers
He spoke about in His Word!
I am thankful for each woman who has
inspired and encouraged me!
Thank-You

The Great Pumpkin
Harvest Pumpkins
I just love pumpkins!
And I relish Autumn's harvest
When you see the amazing array of God's colors,
you can know, He loves beauty.
Who doesn't love a pumpkin sitting proudly on a table.
adorned with autumns leaves and pine cones.
I think decorating with the bounties that come from nature
are the sweetest.
Pumpkins are so good for you,
filled with rich (Beta Carotene)
One of my most favorite things made with pumpkin
puree is Pumpkin Bread!
Pumpkin soup is amazing, light and so delicious.
But let us not forget the pumpkin pie,
my hubbies very favorite.
I also make fresh whipped cream just for him!
Also, don't forget to roast your pumpkin seeds!
Next year let's all grow a larger pumpkin patch:)
Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the man who takes refuge in him.

Midlife Make-Over
A Cup Of Tea
I have now entered into the midlife kitchen make-over...
(Twilight music playing)
Now during this make-over no one has offered us a mini vacation,
while a whole crew comes in to do everything!
No, just ourselves and our son and daughter in law,
also our oldest grandson.
We have the ceiling painted flat white,
and most the walls done in bright yellow.
Sanding and painting my cupboards, a very pretty color
called Chinking. But my island is done in a fresh
green color called Laurel.
All the side of the cabinets are done in a wains coat.
The top rail is in a satin Red color.
The style is really a French Country look.
This is a huge project,
but it will be warm ,and have a cozy feeling when done!!
Ok, the moral of this story is this:
When in the thick of things on the first day of
this make-over. I was so exhausted and overwhelmed...
My sweet Amy brought me a cup of hot steaming
delicious Earl Gray tea, with cream and sugar.
It just about brought tears to my eyes.
I needed to be refreshed.
Let me encourage all of us,
We are our brothers keepers!
A cup of tea and and a encouraging word goes a long way.
We are blessed to have a son who can do all the precise cutting
and fixing almost everything:)

Needing Fellowship
Sharing
Life would be lonely,
If only you had no one to share it with.
Needing fellowship,
as much as I need air.
Christ is the head,
We are His body.
We come together,
He is in our midst.
Take time to love and share.
Show that you care,by actions and words.
Moments of understanding
are worth a thousand words.
Precious indeed,
is the understanding
of a friend.
Friends: a blessing to cherish for life.

Beauty in Our Homes
Autumn Flowers
Beauty comes from the Lord
He makes ALL things beautiful
Scripture tells us He makes all things new!
I have been praying for creative wisdom,
there are so many amazing and
beautiful things, just waiting
to be created.
We as woman have been given a nesting instinct.
We want to surround ourselves with beauty.
It can be simple and cozy,
or crisp and sleek.
But it must...
Have warmth, and be welcoming!!
Let authentic kindness be its main focus.
Let charity grace its rooms
Let beauty fill its halls.
Beauty and charm ,
comes from a heart filled with HIM!

Room for More
The Rolling Prairie
This is our backyard!
Have you ever driven through a place where
you did not see a person for miles?
It is really hard to believe we abort babies!
There is more then enough room.
What happened to Momma's?
Where have all the children gone?
We need our babies and our children!
Life and Liberty for ALL

We Are The Apple Of His Eye... His Provisions
| Thank you for apple peelers |
This fall, we really made the applesauce, it was a lot of work but the rewards
Are worth it all...
My daughter in law and I made 20 pints of applesauce, and 20 pints of apple butter.
We were blessed with 4 bushels of apples.
We had so many that we were able to give some away to our dear friends Pam and Steve.
We were blessed with 4 bushels of apples.
We had so many that we were able to give some away to our dear friends Pam and Steve.
We really love the apple butter, it tastes so good on toast!
I believe making your own jams and jellies are so rewarding.
I want to really make canning and putting back a big part of our food pantry
~ Also it looks so nice to see it on your shelves~
I know it is tempting to want to put it where everyone can see it,
But it is much wiser to put in a pantry where it is cool and dark.
For the quality and longevity will last much longer,
We also put some up with spices and flour for apple pies,
We have plum juice made up and in the freezer, and very soon we will
Be encouraged
Be wise
Be frugal
Be prepared!!
Our barns shall be filled with every kind of provision.

Boots In The Lord's Army
The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord.
and he delights in his way.
Psalms 37:23
I love this scripture, it fills me with great peace,
and comfort.
Our Father has an amazing journey,
planned for each one of us.
We must keep our hearts focused and diligent.
Be careful to stay on His path.
For He is faithful
Our part is to keep our lives free from the distractions,
so we will be able to run our race.
As the Holy Spirit directs our steps.
Keep your boots strapped on dear ones,
possible rocky trails ahead.
Watch for large rocks, and pot holes.
Keep your eyes opened for bandits.
Just never ever give up!
Blessings,Roxy
