Don't Be A Toxic Mother-in-Law...

Don't Be A Toxic Mother-In-Law, Living From Glory To Glory To Glory Blog...

These Vintage Roosters Make Me Miss My Mother in Law

Country Decor
French Country
Farm Country

These Chickens belong to my mother-in-law!
I believe they belonged to her Mother

These are a sweet treasure to me!

She has been gone for a long time!
She was a very special and dear person to me!

I realized that over the years how blessed I was to have
Such a wonderful Mother-in-law!

So I want to title this post-
Don't Be A Toxic Mother-in-Law...

I believe when I was first married over 40 years ago;
I had no idea on how she treated me would impact the rest
Of my relationships!

Think of this family dynamics this way;
You both love the same man.
He now needs to cleave to his wife;

She was kind to me and didn't judge me,
She was patient with me,
She was not critical!
She taught me to crochet!
She made me think I was the best cook ever!
(I wasn't) :)

Here are a few things I remember she did that were huge!

She didn't act jealous of me as her son showed me so much attention!
She didn't choose sides when we were having difficulties!
She made a big deal about my Birthday!
She spoke well about my own Mother!
She honored my efforts at being a wife and a mother!
She walked with me in difficult days, Not over me!

~Don't Be A Toxic Mother-in-Law~
Seek to be a Blessing
Encourage Them
You can impact her life in many ways,
With being kind and loving and helpful!
We can teach someone without any words!

Don't repeat what she might tell you!
Pray for them daily!
If she compliments something she has made for her son;
Ask her if she might like to have the recipe.
Just because she married your son, this is not a competition!!

Realize it takes time to develop housekeeping skills!

Remember how insecure you were
 When you were but a young bride?

Respect goes a long way, even if you would do things differently!

Make your daughter-in - law feel like family.
Not an outsider!
Don't force your son to choose between the two of you!!!!
Because he will take his bride's side, as he should!!!

Compliment her good qualities!
Trust me she has some!!!!

Never speak negatively about her!
Learn quickly to not do this, as it will cause great damage!

Try to only give advice if she is asking about something!

Be available!
Remember to call and ask if it's okay to come visit.
And maybe once in awhile bring a small little gift just for her!

It is never too late to become a great Mother-in-Law!!

She is the only reason I learned to be a good mother-in-law!
She was teaching me by her actions and responses.

What a blessing to your son to choose to love
The very one he has chosen to be his wife!

~Blessings To Each Every Every Mother and
Mother-in-law and Daughter-in-laws~

Making Memories In All Things...

Making Memories, Living From Glory To Glory Blog...

What A Glorious Season...

I made this Christmas wreath last year at a huge florist store.
Everything to make this wreath was provided!
The choices were amazing!

I have found myself a bit nostalgic lately;
I miss my Mother, as she is not with us here, but in heaven
with her heavenly Father...

We do the best we can without the ones we love during
the most wonderful time of the year!

I feel that the world is just a kinder place during this season!

Making memories are so important; not just for the holidays.
But, rather making the time to celebrate Birthdays, and Anniversaries.

I am hoping that for I hosting and having Sunday dinners here will leave
A long lasting loving impression on my family!

Remember that making memories do not have to be expensive;
Making a family recipe for a holiday or birthday
(Traditions)

Looking to improve in areas that leave a lasting impression!

If you need to give yourself a pep talk to push through;
That is perfectly normal!

My hope for writing this Blog was to encourage others!
To not give up doing their best to make their lives and homes,
A better place, filled with good memories and LOVE...

If we are not teachable or willing to learn new things;
And to NOT forget the Old Paths.
We will be left a little bit emptier!

If I say something to you that hurts you;
Think of it this way;
Just maybe, I have learned the exact lesson myself the hard way!

I desire to be the Queen of this little castle, but at times my crown
is a bit tarnish or covered in dust.
I also need a helping hand and words of encouragement!
Plod On Dear Ones...

May I try to be the kind of woman who can help straighten another woman's crown
 without telling the world that it was even a little crooked.
 As I can attest to the fact of my crown leaning so far over at times it almost fell off.

Christmas Memories, Living From Glory To Glory Blog...

May you all take the time to make memories,
And enjoy each and every occasion!

I want to thank you all for reading my Blog all these years!
I appreciate each and every one of you!

Taking The Road Less Traveled And Enjoying The Journey...

A Country Road, Living From Glory To Glory Blog...

It is more blessed to give...

This road is a road less traveled...

Life is filled with many back roads, some have had the most
amazing things to see and discover!

We just had the privilege to have our dear friends Lydia And Stanley;
Lydia@ Home Living Blog
Came for a few days to visit our home and stomping grounds.

I tried to get a picture of us girls together,
But the camera was not going to do us any favors.
(Smiles)

Living From Glory To Glory Blog, Friends

My plan is to get into my Fall mode of shorter days.

Getting outside for a walk even if the weather is not perfect.

Spending more time in the early mornings, praying and reading the Word!

Using the crockpot for those easy, delicious dinners!

Watching more sweet movies that make me happy and cry!

Writing more emails and letters to those I miss!

Being kind to myself

Being more aware of what is the better choice in foods and company!

And to remind myself to create something beautiful every day!

And giving myself the freedom to rest and relax!

Remember so many are stressed and are living with the
consequences of making bad choices;
But I truly believe we all just want to be loved...

Life can be so very hard!
Just think, If we did not have all these trials we would be bored!
Hold Steady
Remember when you have done all you can do;
STAND...

Hope some of you tried making that creamy Pumpkin Soup,
Because it is super delicious!

May each of you be strong and courageous!
Much Love, Because the love of Christ compels me.

Hugs, Roxy

How To Decorate A Miniature Doll House...

A Minature Doll House, Living From Glory To Glory Blog...

Here is the doll house I worked on all last spring!
It was a doll house already constructed;
My daughter found it on Craig's list for me, now that was such
a nice and easy way to start my project to decorate it for the State Fair!

It was a pretty blue color, but was faded and and some yellowing.
I felt that I was more of a yellow color kinda gal,
especially for a Victorian style home.

A Minature Victorian Doll House, Living From Glory To Glory Blog

The cost of this doll house was only thirty dollars,
I truly felt I had found the bargain I was hoping for!
$$
Because, I first went to Hobby Lobby and brought home
a very large box filled with a zillion pieces...
My son told me this;
"Mother this will only take you maybe 300 hours to construct and paint!"

I looked at him and said your kidding right?
Well needless to say I closed that huge box up and
returned it to Hobby Lobby.

Minature Doll House, Living from glory to glory blog...

It took over three coats of paint to cover the faded and dulled blue color.
I primed it inside and out, then painted the outside a pretty yellow.

I also had to paint the inside with primer and still three coats of a beige color.

Decorating the kitchen was so much fun!
Cherry curtains and sweet place mats and a apron I sewed for it!
Minature Country Doll House Kitchen, Living from Glory To Glory Blog...
I also made a little red rug!

I went to Hobby Lobby every few days buying little kitchen things.
Went to a specialty shop and found some darling treasures.
I also ordered a few things on line.
~Everything Miniture~

My Little Itsy Bitsy Apron

The bedroom was really fun!
loved the little Hope Chest filled with goodies
I made little perfume bottles from glass beads!
Also, I sewed the bedding, a wee comforter blanket and shams.
Pillows and the bed skirt...
Living From Glory To Glory Blog...

This room I used as the office, loved that little Banjo!!!
Everything in the details...
My Granddaughter made me some wee little colored pencils.
Living From Glory To Glory Blog...

And of course I had a sewing room in the attic!
I found a little box with spools of thread,
How adorable is that??
It even has a little ironing board and iron.
Living From Glory To Glory Blog...

Here is the whole layout of the house!
The living room had a fireplace, and of course a kitty and a puppy!
Living From Glory To Glory Blog...

I really enjoyed doing this project!
It was a challenge and took a few months to paint and to decorate!

My grandson said now let me get this straight;
You paid only thirty dollars for it, but what did all the furnishings cost?
"We won't go there"

It was a project I always wanted to do!
I did enter it into the State Fair and I did take 3rd place!
That was really amazing, because you would be surprised at how many
 there were in the minature doll House category!

It was something that brought me great joy;
And taught me that it is in the details;
No matter how small a thing is it can be big...

Now, I am thinking about entering something for this year;
I may or may not, as it all depends if I can get a project started
and completed before next month...
(Me Laughing Hysterically)

I hope you enjoyed seeing my sweet project;
I told my youngest granddaughter she could have it one day!

Sending a hug to each of you out in Blogland...

Feast Or Famine And Autumn Has Come Again...

Feast Or Famine, Living from Glory To Glory Blog...

Fall...

~Falling for Fall~

There is just something so inviting about seasonal wreaths!

Decorating for each season is a very easy way to keep your home
Interesting and homey.

I found some beautiful, rich burgundy and gold swirl placemats to use
for my dinner table. I love to use tablecloths and placemats in my kitchen.
And if you use a formal dining area, it is just so beautiful.

The leaves are changing and falling off!
But they do not seem to be the least worried over the change.

When all your children have grown up and have left home,
To start their own families it is what we hoped they would of achieved.

So when you have those special times when the whole family comes together;
It is always what we call a full house ...

We have full beds and makeshift beds on the floor.
We have large quantities of food and goodies.

We are either feast or famine!

Learning to adapt and to overcome all changes is so important!
I know longer spend my time micro managing others...

I have seen over the years we are in these two modes
The Famine is the most common;
Everyone is busy working or unavailable.
They days of families getting together for a family meal often is
not so common any more.
The nucleus family dynamics have changed!
You may even feel lonely, as you miss the family closeness.

The Feast mode comes during holidays
Birthdays
Seasonal get together's
Times of transitions

There are so many things you can do to enjoy each mode;
Set your heart and mind first of all!
Choose to enjoy each mode!

Enjoy the famine time to rest and to enjoy quiet things

Enjoy the feast mode, with all the business and laughter and messes!

But always allow for yourself and your spouse a bit of space!
We need that, but I can say when everyone leaves:
The house is way too quiet!

As Always...

My Grand Mothers Blue and White Stoneware...

Blue and White Antique Stoneware, Living From Glory To Glory Blog...

Vintage Blue And White Stoneware...

I have so many memories from this set of canisters;
They were all in my Grandmother's kitchen!
They were all used everyone of them!
There are 16 of them!
There is smaller ones for the spices and one for rock salt.

I have had this set from the first year I was married!
I once had a friend's sister come out to the house;
And she had an antique store in Kansas.
She told me she has never seen a complete set of this canisters!
Only two of them have a chuck missing on the top.
But I still have the little broken pieces of them!

I think many of us have such fond memories of those special things either from
Our grandparents or our parents' homes.

I love my things that have sentimental value...
I find comfort in them!

I do not think I would be very good at having to live a lifestyle of
Less is More...
No, not me!

I love my books and my doilies and my tablecloths!
I have more tea cups and tea pots, then you need!

I love having seasonal decor and decorations to display!

Living in a warehouse for many is so popular!
Not me, I prefer a cottage and a home that is filled with love!
And my stuff...

Pretties are important to me!
Not that I couldn't live without them.
But since I can have them, I enjoy them!

As I believe you can make a home lovely with pretty things!
But clutter and just junky stuff is not good for anyone.

I ask myself;
Do You love this?
Does it carry wonderful memories?
Is it worth, the space it takes up?

P.S. Just a thought;
Do you ever go back to a blog and to see if the author has
left a reply to your comment?
I now have a new comment section with a reply response;
So I may be using it to respond!
Tell me what you think!!

Are You Ready?...

Are You Ready? Beautiful Blue Bowls, Living From Glory To Glory Blog

Are You Ready?

A dear friend of mine was asked the question the other evening;
It was asked by a Pastor that knew this woman.

She said NO...

Yes, she is saved!

But NO she is not ready to leave her Husband or Children...

I love this sweet, wonderful lady!

She has been battling a brain tumor for a long time!

They have been given a bad report again!
I am a bit stunned and in shock.

Are we ever really ready to say goodbye to those we love?

"I am planning on writing her a letter tonight"

She used to read my blog before she got diagnosed with the tumor!

She loved to sing to the Lord during worship!

It is like we had a connection in many ways "spiritually"
We would just call each other out of the blue and we would
Talk and then pray together...

I want to ask you;
Are You Ready?

I want to write letters to all my kids and grandchildren soon!
I want to love my Husband with my whole heart!
I want to laugh till I cry!
I want to repent for everything, I have ever done wrong!
I want to love and to plant flowers and trees!
I want to tell my faithful friends, how much I love and appreciate them!
I want to embrace the mornings!
I want to fall asleep and awake in Heaven

Modesty Even On A Roller Coaster And Learning To Live And To Laugh...

Learn To Laugh And To Love, Living FromGlory To Glory Blog...

Sometimes you just need to lighten up Ladies...

Trust me, as this life is so fleeting!

Being a lady requires the ability to roll with your life!
That means your marriage
Your children
Your grandchildren...

If you are rigid and have so many rules;
That your children and family do not know what to do!

Modesty is so important; But to never do anything fun;
Because you are afraid to live and laugh.
(You will regret it!)

One thing I remember about my Mother that still makes me smile,
Was that even when she was madder than a hornet;
She would be chasing my older brother with her yard stick!
She was going to give him a good swat for something.

And he would say something to her and she would just
Start cracking up.
 Or when she gave him a swat the stick would break!

She wanted us to obey, but life has many twists and turns!

Life is a bit like riding a roller coaster...

When was the last time you really laughed?

Well, if you can't remember it's been way too long!

Being to prim and proper can be very unladylike!

I think of Queen Elizabeth, and how I have heard a few blurps
of her talking off camera and she is quite funny!

My Mother was the best!

She loved her children!
Yet, she had fun with us, even though her life was hard!
She grew up partly in an orphanage!

Laugh a little
Live a little
Love a lot...

Honoring Your Mother For Only One Day A Year
Is just plain silly...

~Everyday is Mothers Day~

Celebrate And Give Thanks For His Gift (Emanuel, God With Us)...

Christmas Past
Christmas Future

Everything has a consequence!

When I look at my life or the life of others;
I see a pattern of what I might call a Pendulum.

In our own human nature we all have a tendency.
We swing to this side or that side.

We can just chalk it up to each his own...

But I now can look back and see that life is a journey and we are
All learning through trials and testing of our faith!

Is it really about what you eat or wear?
(I am NOT attacking anyone here)
Yet all these things can make a huge impact...

What I am thinking for me is a greater measure of
Allowing the person the grace to walk out his own sanctification process.

Taking my own agenda or belief system and belittling another.
Is not going to gain anything!

I know of many that do not celebrate Christmas at all!
I have heard this is a pagan holiday and they use the
Scriptures in Nehemiah to say how we should not have a tree.

Look, I have grown up with celebrating Christmas, I have done
My own research and I am willing to continue to
Celebrate Christmas...

This post is written not to anyone I know!!!!

It is just something that I have wrestled with from way back...

I am a Baptist
I am a Wife
I am a Mother
I am a Grandmother

I am doing the best job I know how to do!

I have never intended to offend anyone!

We all have the luxury to do as we understand to be acceptable
To God, but not always are fellow man.

Some things are just not my job to police
other people and how and what they celebrate.
We can give our opinion and you can even listen to
 Why they do or don't do something!

I have come to see that there are so many different ways
of doing things and ways to interpret scripture.
Take time to ask the Lord to continue to learn and grow!

I will no longer participate in these battles of what is
the truth or the way!

I am a grown woman and I will do
the best that I can with what He is doing in my life.

Merry Christmas...

My Franciscan Rose Pattern Dinnerware...

Living from Glory To Glory Blog ,Franciscan Rose Pattern Dinnerware

My Beautiful Rose Franciscan Pattern Dinnerare
And My Story...

My Rose Pattern dish's now have some very pretty green glasses to go with them!
When my Mother passed, I asked for her dish set because she and I had a love for
this lovely rose pattern for many years.

I remember as a child she only had the sugar bowl and creamer
And just two teacups with saucers.
She would use these two cups when a neighbor would stop in for a cup of coffee.
I do not think we do that anymore...

Years before my Mother died, she gave me the sugar bowl and creamer
For my 30th birthday!
I do not use them any longer as they are a bit cracked and very fragile.
So I leave them in my china hutch!

Let me tell you the story of how I happened to acquire a complete set
of this lovely Franciscan tableware!

Well, my older brother knew how much mother loved this pattern!
As I mentioned when my Mother did pass I did get 6 dinner plates and 6 bowls
 and that was what I had gotten from our Mother.

But I got a phone call from my brother and he asked all the other sisters if they
wanted some of those same rose pattern dinnerware.
They said no as it was not their style,
But they did say ask Roxy, she loves that stuff!!

Living From Glory To Glory Blog

So when my brother went to an estate sale back east he saw these dishes!!
The man that had lived at this estate was a client of my brothers;
So when he asked about these dishes they told him he could have the entire set!
(Not sure of what he may have paid as I never asked)

But I will tell you this it was a huge amount of every size and everything imaginable.

The boxes just started coming to the house and they were huge!
The Fed Ex guy was like who sent you this??
I told him the story and he said boy you have one nice brother!
~And Yes, Yes I do~

It took my Daughter in love many hours to unpack the boxes!
We had so many the entire floor and table were covered in Roses...

I have so many dishes that I had to pack away many of them!
I kept out a table setting for twelve!

I use them as my daily dishware so I always think of my Mother!

I received serving bowls and serving platters, and casserole dishes.

I have two different styles of teapots...

But just recently we found some nice green glassware at Tuesday Mornings
(Love that place)

So I bought a stemware green glass and then a regular tall glass for tea and milk.

My cupboards are bursting with Roses!!
And it makes me smile and I count my blessings that my dear brother
gave me such a lavish gift!

You know I just had a thought or maybe it was a memory about how and
where my dear mother would have gotten the money to buy her
Cream and sugar set and her two coffee cups?

I believe it was probably with her little books filled with
S&H Green Stamps

~Thank You, Dear Big Brother~
Thank You Mom for giving me the love of Roses...

Do You Ladies remember a dish pattern your family used while growing up?

Blessings, From Glory To Glory

How Little Things Can Change Your Life...

~There is just something so special about a beautiful teacup~

There are so many lovely teacups out there and what a treasure to have one.

But what I think is so sad is how we no longer have time for tea!
Or we may not have the pleasure of company to share it with.

I was given the little teacup through an exchange from our friend
Stephanie's blog Enchanted Rose.
And the day before my cup arrived, my dear Husband bought me the larger
One from an antique store in our town!
So now I have a large one and a tiny one for a child to share some tea!

Here is a lovely blue glass tea light holder made by my sister
last year for my birthday.
 I love it because it matches my beach decor
in our master bath!
A simple gift made with love for me!

These windmill cookies always make me smile;
They bring back such happy memories;
These cookies were some of my Mothers very favorite cookies!
She would have one with her afternoon cup of coffee.

Here is a new ironing board cover I bought for my sewing room!
I do manage to go through many covers as I do enjoy ironing!
I have some material that I have purchased and I do plan
on making another one for myself so when this one gets holes
I will have one made already!

I miss so many things now days!

The ancient paths seem like it has been lost to so many!

I miss having a close friend to have tea with!

I miss my Mother and all her ways!

I miss being close to my sister!

I miss ironing my children's clothing!

I miss having my children home!

I miss having all my grandchildren close!

I miss having comments on my blog!

I guess the reason I miss all these things is because they were all happy
things that gave me sweet memories and gifts given in love!
Things to do on any given day that seemed not big or important
Yet, now leave me feeling a bit at a loss...

Freedom To Do As You Please...

Home, Living From Glory To Glory Blog

Freedom To Do As You Please...

Believe anything you want to*
Treat people any way you want to*
Say anything you want to*
Go anywhere you want to*
Dress any way you want to*

See this freedom really came with a price;

Most of these so called freedoms has brought in sin and death!

See we no longer have any absolute truths!

Many of us without realizing it may just have one foot
on the broad path and one on the narrow path.
This will lead to a very uneven walk...

Look, I just want to be popular and have everybody like me!
I want to be invited to your social gatherings!
I just want to laugh at your gossip and off colored jokes!

Wait...

I really no longer want to be a part of the crowd
I no longer feel like I fit
I no longer think those things are worth listening to
 or your jokes don't make me laugh!

What has changed?

These very freedoms will destroy the very fabric of our society
These freedoms have destroyed the God given pattern of a true family
Real FREEDOM will cost you something!

We can use our own homes as a place of peace and safety and truth and light!
What does the banner or flag over your home say?

Where are you leading those you have been entrusted with!
The broad path... Anything goes
The narrow path... Godly choices

Everything that is really going to stand the fire test
And will not be burned like wood, hay and stubble.
Must be pure as gold!

Just see if you can discern how dark things are becoming?
Your course of action must expose the darkness
And set God's Word on the lamp stand...
Your Life

Mountains Demand Respect...

These mountains demand respect...

Yes, they are majestic!

But they rule and they do not consider your needs.
They can be brutal and yet have a way to bring you to your knees!

The weather and climate can change in just a few short minutes.
Sunshine to snow in 30 seconds.

Dressing in layers and having survival backpacks is a must!
No hiking away from camp without all possible necessary gear!

A camera is a luxury.
Good hiking boots are a must!

High Altitude can make you really sick,
You have to drink plenty of water and often.

You can get lost very easily,
And walking in a dense forest can be a challenge.
Trees down and underbrush that is super thick.
Roots that live on top of the terrain.
Wild animals live in the forest...
You're in their territory!

I always like to camp in an open meadow and just close to the trees!

We do enjoy getting away from the prairie lands,
Which are very flat and wide.

But God has given us all kinds of beautiful places to enjoy!

Get out there and enjoy some nature!
