Two Turtle Doves

 Two Turtle Doves
Today is the day the Lord has made!

Rejoice!
We are all so busy and checking our list twice.
I made a very purposeful decision in the last few days.
I will take in every wonderful joyous Christmas song.
I will relish every festive sight of Christmas lights.
I will listen for the anticipation of the Children's excitement!

I will thoughtfully bake something special for my Hubby.
(He has asked for a Pumpkin Pie)
NOT kidding!
No Figgy Pudding I ask?
He said honey, I didn't get one on Thanksgiving,
Because we were with our very special friends (Remember?)

So, I have not baked anything yet; I am waiting till
the right day, so I can take pleasure in it and not
Have to hurry and be stressed.
Besides a Pumpkin pie needs to be fresh...
And do not forget the real Whipped Cream!

We celebrate Christmas Eve with our children who live close by.
(Next Door)
Really, I told you we were close....
Then that way they have Christmas morning at home.
And the other Grandma Neta gets her Grandchildren!

Did I mention that my sweet Hubby
and I have been told we need to
watch our sugar?
(Sweet Hubby; Pun intended!)

Really!! Just before Christmas?
I tell you it's a conspiracy....

Okay, Here is the point of this POST!
I really think I had one..
Sorry it's gone!
Hey... Where's that list I had?

Oh I remember!
I wanted to show you my Hutch, decorated for Christmas!
My sweet friend from Country Pleasures, Sue
Always decorates hers for every holiday!
I love how all my dear Blogging friends inspire me!
I am thankful for your friendship!
I am happy to have you in my life!
I also, love to be challenged by your ideas and insights!

I call you my friends, who take the time to read my post!
I am blessed by those who will leave me a comment...

Will what I say here go up in the pile
of wood, hay and stubble?

I will give my Lord and Saviour all the Glory!
For this is His Blog!

Blessings,
Roxy

Christmas Heart

Today was Christmas in my heart.

I had a wonderful opportunity to minister to a beautiful young woman.
I was in one of those rare places,

Going about your day.
Thinking your just there doing what you must do!

Nothing special;
UNTIL
The moment God will use you...

I am in a big city having my yearly mammogram done.
They have left me waiting for a very long time,
And I am thinking really...
But, I am being patient and I watched many other
Women coming and going.
Still, not calling my name?

So finally I go to a lady and inquire to what maybe
The problem might be?
She said, follow me!

So, this is why I was not being called back...
It is called a God assignment.

I come out and I find this young woman just breaking down
and filled with fear!

All these other women are just still reading their magazines,
And looking the other way.
I get up and I go over to her and I say
"Honey your going to be okay"
"You are not going to die"
This is the next step...
No fear!!
I told her my story;
And I said look I'm still here!
I told her God has this!
She sobered up quickly, they called her back.
She told me thank you!
I grabbed her hand and I told her to have,
A Merry Merry Christmas...
She said I will!

She is going to be okay!!
I am praying for her.
I was in the right place at the right time!

Find Christmas in YOUR Heart!

Sock Snowmen

Winter Snowmen in all their cheer!

To make these cute little guys all you need is a few items!
Use either a tube sock or a crew sock (White)
Turn the sock inside out.
Wrap a rubber band around it to hold it tight,
Now turn it back right side.
Now, you must fill it with any cheap white rice.
I use about 2 cups of rice per snowman.

After filling the sock with the whole 2 cups tie it off with
Another rubber band.
Like this!

Now find the area to use the right proportion for his head.
Just wrap the rubber band only twice around for his head.
Like this!

Now you want to make his little hat;
This is where all those little single socks come in handy :)
Turn it inside out and once again loosely tie a rubber band
Around it, and turn it back to right side out.

You can make any little sock a hat,
You can tie it with ribbon or twine.

You are going to use snaps for the eyes, or
very wee little buttons.
You need to have whole cloves for his nose!

He will also need a scarf!
To cut a thin strip about 1 inch wide,
But it must be at least 13 inches long to wrap nicely
Around his neck.
I also like to fringe the ends of the material I use.
You can buy and sweet little color fabrics that look
Classic Christmas or Rustic style!

Know tie the scarf around his neck
Hot glue the snaps for his eyes or buttons in place.
And also hot glue on his nose.

Have fun decorating these little guys!

I have made these with little children,
And I have made these with a ladies group at Church.
Everyone just loves them!
I hope you will try this craft idea and if you don't find the time
This year save it in your craft file ideas for next year.

Items you will need:
White tube socks (cut in half)
Each tube sock makes two snowmen!
A bag of rubber bands
Cheap White Rice
(Each snowman takes about 2 cups)
A few socks for the hats.
You cut off only about 3 inches for each hat.
( A knee sock would make quite a few Hats)
(You can find some of these from your Goodwill store)
Scraps of material that match the hats!
Whole cloves
Snaps
Wee Little buttons
Hot Glue gun!
You are going to love this craft!

I have some snowman I made many years ago.
Just remember to store them in a tub
Where the little critters might not get to them.

Have fun and enjoy the creativity God has given you!
Blessings,
Roxy

How To Make The Best Peanut Brittle Ever...

Peanut Brittle
This is one very special  treat!
that has  many sweet memory's
attached to it.

Especially, if you are a wee bit older!

Peanut Brittle is a unique combination,
It is salty and crunchy and sweet!
And you can never just eat one piece!

I have made many versions of this persnickety Christmas treat...

My first attempt of making Peanut Brittle, we almost had to
Throw away a cookie sheet, and a bowl that had
Peanut Brittle stuck to it for life..

But a few years ago I found a recipe from this couple,
that made it in the microwave!!
Now, this couple was versed in Peanut Brittle making!
So, I thought my Hubby and I can do this...
Well...
Our first attempt was hard as a rock,
as we did not read the recipe all
the way through first !!
May I suggest you read it all the way through and underline
All the times of cooking and any details that stand out.

Remember this is a science.
Peanut Brittle is not for the Wimpy bakers!
It takes wit and fortitude!!

Here is my batch spread out on a greased cookie sheet.
Living From Glory To Glory Blog
Here is their wonderful recipe below "Enjoy"

The Garriguses, who are both 83, have been married 63 years. They've lived in several states over the years. Two of their children, Debbie and Danny, and their grandchildren and great- grandchildren live out of state. Son Ron lives in Lexington.
Rozelle begins making peanut brittle by spreading butter over a ceramic cutting board.
"Use your fingers. God made fingers to work," she said.
Never spread the candy on an ungreased surface; it will stick.
Leo Garrigus uses a spatula to lift and move the candy as it hardens. He learned this after he had to chisel it off a cutting board one time, he said.
Here's how the Garriguses make peanut brittle.
In a 2-quart Pyrex bowl, stir together 1 cup sugar and ½ cup white syrup (measure accurately.) Microwave on high for 3 minutes, 40 seconds.
Remove from microwave and add 2 scant cups (cups not quite full) dry roasted salted peanuts. Punch them down into the mixture. Do not stir.
Return to microwave and cook for 2 minutes, 30 seconds. Remove from microwave and add — but don't stir —1 teaspoon vanilla and 1 teaspoon butter. Microwave for 1 minute, 30 seconds.
Remove from microwave and sprinkle with 1 teaspoon baking soda. Stir the mixture. It will foam. Immediately pour mixture onto the buttered surface. Drag the bowl along to make sure the mixture is flat. Using a spatula, lift the candy and scoot it around, so it doesn't stick to the surface. Let the mixture cool until completely hardened, about 45 minutes. Break into pieces.
It's best to store peanut brittle in a tin, but Rozelle Garrigus said, "the fellas eat it up so fast, I've never been able to store it."
I hope you will attempt this wonderful Peanut Brittle!!
One thing I do like about Peanut Brittle as it stays fresh for a long time, you can even freeze it!
If you give this as a gift I promise they will tell you it was wonderful tasting.
Blessings, Roxy

How To Be Contenious

I'm right you are wrong!
It really is pretty simple to be a contentious woman!
Every chance you get;
Correct someone!
Especially your husband!!
Everytime he is telling a story, or explaining something,
Listen very carefully!!
So, you can correct every small detail of (HIS STORY)

Okay, you get the idea!
I was sitting down with my Hubby last night and we
We're going to pray together, and it hit me...

I have heard myself and other woman a lot lately correcting
Their Husband's, Now I know that I know everything!!...
It is just getting a bit annoying to even myself on
How often I must correct every wrong detail of (HIS STORY)

No wonder our Husbands do not want to be involved with
some of our conversations!
Really:
Would it really hurt me or the universe to just let him
Tell his version???
Wait a minute...
Maybe I am wrong and He is right??

(Have you seen my glasses?)
Hmmmm----
I now have remembered why we are told to respect, and honor
Our husbands and to show him reverence.

Because, we are always opening our mouths and spiritually
Sticking our our tongues.

I told my husband about this and I told him I was sorry.
He told me it is very frustrating for a Man to be corrected,
All the time, and especially in front of other people.

So Miss bossy pants, stop correcting YOUR Husband!
You are not his MOMMY!

OKAY!!

This could be the best NEW YEAR gift for
Your Marriage yet!

Just for Your Information;
You will have to be reminded about this everytime,
You are in a conversation with him alone. And
Especially when you with others during Church,
Or when fellowshipping with others.

I remember something about a woman with a gentle
And Quiet spirit.

OH OH;
And something about being in an attic eating crust is better,
Then being in a house with a contentious woman.

Contenious=
Strife, dispute ect.
A point argued for ( I'M RIGHT)

Critical spirit in my speech. Is your tongue always correcting
Your headship?

Do all things without grumbling and faultfinding,
complaining and questioning.
Philippians 2:14

Blessings,
Roxy

Christmas Romance

There is just something so precious and romantic
About the Christmas season!

God designed us with the need for love!
It is His idea for Marriage
Of love and commitment.
To hold and adore the one whom you made a covenant with!

God, has given us the  most romantic time of the year.
To enjoy a cozy and comfy evening.
Take advantage of the sweet glow of Christmas lights.
Sitting all warm and cozy inside together.
Playing Christmas music.

Make time together to do a few of these things like;
Watching a few sweet Christmas classic together.
Taking a walk together in the new fresh fallen snow!
Holding hands while out doing some shopping!

Bake your Hubbies favorite Christmas cookies!

Take a walk down memory lane of some
Of  your first Christmas's together!

Start a new tradition!
Get a new Christmas ornament that celebrates,
How many years you have been married.

It is important to spice things up,
And keep the home fires burning.
Smile for him!
Rub his back!
Kiss the top of his head!
Tell him, he is the best Christmas gift that
God ever gave you!

Pray together and ask God's direction for this
New year coming up!

Blessings,
Roxy

Cast Iron Cooking Makes A Very Tender Roast...

Cooking in cast iron is a very easy way to have
A moist and tender roast!
It heats up so evenly!
You can use this on top of the stove or,
Pop it in the oven!
You can even use it on top of your wood stove!
And I have done this when we have had power outages!

I have cooked many Beef roasts in this
Cast Iron Dutch Oven!
Deer Meat and Elk also come out very tender!

Cooking roasted Potato's or carrots will
Make them scrumptious.

Also, using cast iron is a better and safer cooking material!
Do not use the old aluminum ones.
It leaches the aluminum from the pan into your food.

They say the iron that comes from the Cast iron
Will help with your iron that is needed in your body!
I am not sure how true all this is but that's what
Google is for, right?

I think every woman would enjoy having a
Cast Iron Dutch Oven!

Tell me if you ever use Cast Iron cookware?

Blessings,
Roxy
